Comfort food at Mexicali, fancy yet affordable.

Still a bit frustrated about last Friday night cancelation of Banchetto’s wish lantern fest. Mai and I were excited to experience that event and of course the food. Because it was canceled; Banchetto’s FB page is now on fire. Anyway I just decided to pickup Mai from Eastwood then eat somewhere else and ease our frustrations. Since we’re both hungry and frustrated, we eyed for a “sulit meal” and yet budgeted. We agreed on a P200 each meal, then a light bulb lights towards MEXECALI

Beef Enchilada
Here’s the deal, if you’re quite hungry and at the same time you’re carving for something fancy but affordable, one fast-food / resto stop we can suggest is MEXECALI. For P200 you’ll get to savor a heavy and fancy food like our favorites Beef Enchilada (Big serving of beef enchilada, Mexican rice and house salad) and “Roast pork platter” (Tender and tasty roast pork, Mexican rice house salad and baked beans) plus the appetizing garlic and salsa sauce my favorite. Fancy isn’t it? Indeed, it eased our frustrations and conquered our hunger. And they still have many more to offer…

I just had a little confusion about ordering, since I usually dine at Mexicali Robinsons Galleria I’m used to a restaurant type of service. So when we dine at Trinoma branch I expected the same kind of service, apparently it’s not. Service charge should cover a resto type of service? Nonetheless food was fantastic.

Here are some nationwide branches of Mexecali.

Wish Lanterns will fly on friday

This event definitely caught our attention. Since it's our first time to witness this much of sky lanterns released into the air. Could be the best if we are able to secure even 1 lantern, unfortunately there were 1,000 people quicker than us. Nonetheless, we can still go to the event with or without a lantern. Well, I can still bring one, a standout one but the organizers discourage the idea. Booo! As always; food  will be the main attraction at least for me... ask Mai.

What: Sky lantern fest (1,000 wish lanterns will fly)
When: November 11, 2011 at 11.11pm (you wish to be there around 10:00pm)
Where: BANCHETTO-MEGATENT along Meralco Avenue, Ortigas Center, between the Renaissance    Towers & the depED building very near St Paul's Pasig & Ultra.

Below is the press release on their multiply site: Banchetto sky lantern fest

Wish Lanterns are the equivalent of mini hot air balloons. When released into the night sky the person releasing the lantern will traditionally make a wish for the future.

Wish Lanterns ® are 100% biodegradable, non-flammable, safe, and easy to use, creates an amazing visual effect that adds enjoyment and wonder to any special occasion. All you have to do is light the fuel cell, wait for the lanterns to fill up with hot air and then let go. You, your family and your guests will gaze as the Wish Lantern floats up to the sky. The Wish Lantern will be in the air for about 12 minutes and goes up over a mile in to the night sky!

We will release the WISH LANTERNS into the air all at the same time at exactly 11.11pm. Please bring your whole family with you and experience making a wish altogether as a family. Be there at 10pm so you can still write down your wishes in the wishing paper.

At this time, we would like to know who amongst you are interested to join us so we can order the equivalent number of WISH LANTERNS from our supplier.

We did a similar activity in BANCHETTO-FORUM during the Chinese New Year this year, and it really helped a lot in increasing the right chi, the right PROSPERITY Energy, everyone have attracted after.

The WISH LANTERNS costs Php 100 each - it comes with a wishing paper and a small candle.

To RESERVE A LANTERN, please email us your FULL NAME, CONTACT NO., NO. of LANTERNS and send it to info.banchetto@gmail.com. Lanterns will be claimed at the Banchetto MEGATENT Information Booth on Friday from 8pm-11pm.
Please note that only reservations made thru email will be counted. Lanterns will also be sold at the venue on a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS. Deadline for reservations will be on Friday at 12 noon. Thank you!
Still wishing that we could bring our own lantern :)

This is what we’re good at, social networking, online voting, sms. Now, we can make it a lot worthy. This is within our reach. . It’s like Pacquiao fighting for our country’s pride. This time it’s not only Pacquaio, all of us can be part of it.

The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is located about 50km north of the city of Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines. It features a limestone karst mountain landscape with an 8.2 km. navigable underground river. A distinguishing feature of the river is that it winds through a cave before flowing directly into the South China Sea. It includes major formations of stalactites and stalagmites, and several large chambers.

The lower portion of the river is subject to tidal influences. The underground river is reputed to be the world’s longest. At the mouth of the cave, a clear lagoon is framed by ancient trees growing right to the water’s edge. Monkeys, large monitor lizards and squirrels find their niche on the beach near the cave.
