Since I ‘m more into netbooks than pads and its friends, I did some research on the existing netbooks available in our local market. Na kukulangan kasi ako functionality ng mga pads and friends plus the fact that like cell phones, Pads somehow inherits computer’s ability for portability purposes, in a way it pretends to be a PC. But now that netbooks do exits which is more light weight, small, compact and portable than a regular laptop. I’d rather buy a netbook since I already have an MP3 player “Zen X-fi2”, touch phone and a digital cam like most you. What I need is a portable computer that that can communicate with these devices and more. But if someone generously gives me a Pad as a Birthday gift, with arms wide open I’ll accept it. We’ll discuss more about that next time. Ok, so much for that.
Here are some guides to help you decide what netbook to buy.
BUDGET- If you have a particular budget and you can’t go much beyond it, don’t push it. Look for the best netbook specification that would fit on it. And set your expectations that if it’s cheaper then you’ll get a not so fast performance from it. But if you’re just into web browsing and MS Office applications, you won’t have much trouble. The “Samsung n148” that runs on an IA n455 1GB DDR3 and “Lenovo Ideapad”, IA n455 1GB DDR3 are some netbooks that are less pricey. Prices ranges from 12k to 13k depending on the terms of payment. You’ll get a discount if you pay in cash. Take note that it doesn’t have a pre-installed Operating System, usually “windons7 starter” which is a bummer anyway, so it’s ok to buy one without it. Since they also add to 2k for the same unit with a pre-installed OS. Ask the store to install a “not so genuine OS” instead and they’ll do it for free.
SPECS – Remember that a netbook won’t run as fast as a regular laptop, so don’t expect too much from it. But some notebooks now are running on a dual core processor, which means better performance.
Just focus on these three components, since the rest are pretty much the same.
Processor – Most netbooks runs on an Intel Atom processor “IA”. Cheaper netbooks uses IA N455, IA N450 with clock frequencies of 1.66GHZ or 1.55GHZ these are single core processor, thus it’s cheaper but adequate to run MS offices applications and web-browsing. But if speed and multi-tasking are what you prioritized then go for netbooks that runs on a dual core processor like the IA N550 and IA N570. Logically they’re much expensive.
RAM (Memory) – the usual package of netbooks is 1GB DDR2, these are the older version. Go for 1GB DDR3. Again, the higher the better which is 2GB DDR3.
BATERRY- Always go for a 6-cell battery which can power your netbook longer than a 3-cell battery. This component is frequently overlooked. Some netbooks are still packaged with 3-cell battery, which is unacceptable.
Physical look is up to your preference.
Always remember the higher the better but pricey. Except for this one which I highly recommends "A Best Buy".

Price – Well, you can have this baby for as low as 12,800 cash and 13,800 installments. Take note that it does not have a pre-installed OS which is not a big deal anyway.
This netbook can run PHOTOSHOP and VIDEO editor like "Muvee Reveal" smoothly at the same time. How’s that for a netbook?
