Sorry Mr. Crab |
Finally you set your feet on the world class sand of Boracay the first time, too excited that you pass several meals on your way. Now you're hungry; so you look for food. Let's say you check-in somewhere in station 2 wherein most bars and restos are located. Here comes the dilemma; "Where should I eat?" We know you already spend several bucks on your airfare and accommodation plus you're saving some for Bora activities later. Thus you wouldn't want to spend much on food but you also want to satisfy your taste buds. It's possible!
Since you're quite hungry and tired, you're eying for a huge meal (Buffet). We recommend you this buffet alfresco beachfront (these are just set-ups of tables and chairs) when the sun sets. Unfortunately I forgot its name but it's just few steps from La Carmela de Boracay (where we stayed, it's a well-known hotel in Bora just ask the locals there) towards station1. They occupy a larger space compare to similar restos near it.
Shellfish all you want: mussel, clam, oyster, mollusk, etc. |
Mai's Platter |
Mai's Platter: Grilled squid, mussel, clam, oyster, mollusk and fried tuna. Mine are non-sea food: Pork and Chicken BBQ, Pork lechon, (Yes, they also have pork lechon all you want) menudo, pork spring rolls, fried chicken. With the exemption of "alimango"(crabs) this is one shell that is hard to resist. Sorry I'm too shy to post my obese plate.

Value for the money
Service understandably, they're a bit under-man for a huge guest. but they're courteous enough to compensate.
Just beside the resto is a small booth that sells "Italian Ice-cream". Taste? fair enough for 25 bucks.

Ready for Desert |
How about some street food along the beach? The classic pork and chicken "isaw" (intestine), chicken "batikolon" (gizzard), Pork ears and hotdog (tourist quality) for Php.10 per stick. Perfect pit-stop for merienda after along beach walk and perhaps an appetizer for dinner. Let your foreigner friends taste these delis.

This isaw/bbq stall is at the end part of staion 2 towards station 1
Want some comfort food? Feeling cold due several hours of snorkeling and diving in to the crystal clear water of Bora? This will definitely warm you; Lapaz batchoy of Deco's Original Lapaz Batchoy which is located right next to the Boracay Regency,( they pioneered in serving a soup from meat stock garnished with a concoction of local herbs and spices.) best partnered with pandesal or puto.

Ambiance the place is cozy and well organized
Value for the money the Super Batchoy is (Php.80) good for 2 person if you're a couple. Pandesal is little pricy but the quality compliments.
Service 3.5crew are courteous, service is a little slow
Dinning in group? to chit-chat and recap the long day of fun, this is better done over pizzas and pastas. The best affordable place for that in Bora...? "Shakey's", yes you read it right Shakey's. We also thought of that; not eating there since it's a usual resto in Manila. But we end up munching and staying there forever, and we're glad we did. Is the ambiance and crew that makes it "not the usual".

Shakey's Boracay, Station 1 |
Boasts of a veranda outside-seating. Its architecture was intentionally designed to blend with the island’s atmosphere. There is no air-conditioners in any part of the
restaurant. Instead, there are floor-to-ceiling bay windows and outside
seating where one can commune with nature. Chairs and tables can be use even if your soaking wet and covered with fine sand, beach friendly. Staffs are courteous and delightful.

We ordered the Monster Meal, this is one big monster of: deliciously crisp brick-oven baked Manager’s Choice large Pepperoni thin crust Pizza. This pizza pair is perfectly paired with two pasta dishes: flavorful Classic Spaghetti and Carbonara Supreme Platter. On
top of all that, an irresistible combo of Chick ‘N Chips Party Pack is served
with 3 pitchers of ice cold Tea, for only P1,649.00 good for 12 persons and we're only six then, just enough for our monster appetite.
So when you and your group pass by at Shakey's Bora, don't be surprise if find yourselves dining there. It's not the usual Shakey's.

Ambiance it's one resto that you ca be moderately loud and lose while chit chatting with friends even if you just got out of the beach.
Value for the money for Php. 1,649 a group meal that's good for 12 is manageable but not that cheap.Service 5 service oriented crew and humorous. What more can you ask for?
Looking for a handy desert that you can carry for a walk along the shore with hubby/wifey? Let's make it sweeter. Instead of having ice blended coffee or praf. Bora offers an alternative delightful treats that is handy to take on a walk. Tagged as the best fruit-shake bar in Bora...
I had Mocha Banana Peanut shake (very much satisfied), Mia had Mango shake (she liked it too) the rest? I'll ask them later. Their shakes are uniquely put in to water bottle (like the usual bottled water container), which makes it very handy to carry while touring around the Island. I just hope its not recycled bottle from the area. Lol... Nonetheless, their fruit shakes is one of the highlights of Boracay.
"Jonah's Fruit Shake & Snack Bar" also serves snack's obviously as the name says, pizza, sandwiches, pasta etc. But we just had shakes so I can't comment on others. Jonah’s Fruit Shake is located northwest of Station 1, along the beach front.
Need a quick meal for takeout? something that you bring and eat on your way somewhere like we did. Since our flight back to manila is 1 in the afternoon (Tuesday our last day) we decided to make most of the remaining time from 6am to 10am, so meal time was less prioritized but it doesn't mean didn't had a huge and good meal to go. The solution...
One of the main selling features of Jammer’s is its very affordable and reasonable price list. You can feast on a regular hamburger for about P80 . Their monster and bigger sized double burger is sold at about Php180 which is good for two.
We had the Monster Bacon Burger which is as big as the plate. We eat it on the bus bound to Kalibo airport
Other appetizing fasfood offerings on the menu include the hotdogs and cheesedog burgers. Take note that the hotdogs and sausages used are specially and specifically ordered from a Manila-based German deli. That is why you will surely savor the taste. Burgers are noticeably made of real meat. Fish fillets are equally interesting and mouth watering.
Taste 5 delicious, enough said.
Service 5 fast and highly efficient staff.
Breakfast was a breeze for us. We had a buffet breakfast at La Carmela de Boracay as part of accommodation package. Wide variety of breakfast chow! "PA-NA-LO!" (Winner!) Hats off to the staff, rooms and services of La Carmela de Boracay. Recommended hotel.
Here are some familiar affordable food stops in Boracay, for sure you wont miss them.
But if you really came preferred for your Boracay vacation, fine dining is everywhere. Just ready money and plastic.

Ambiance beachfront, within the popular D’Mall thus crowded. They're 24 hours a day.
